Public School District, 186 lives, rural Missouri
The school district is 40 miles to the southeast of the Kansas City metro and attracts residents who are seeking a peaceful setting in the country with all the benefits of the city close at hand. The area has nearly doubled in the past thirty years with the biggest growth in the last ten years. Families are drawn to the area where a sense of neighborhood exists, providing a solid network of support from caring people. “Country living” also attracts residents, as rural areas are dotted with new homes on small acreages. The school district is basically a middle class community with the majority of families having both parents working. Agricultural, manufacturing, service and public sector opportunities translate into local jobs for approximately 2,000, but the area is largely a bedroom community whose many families utilize the district-operated Before and After-School Child Care program or one of the local child care services. The district operates five campuses and a central office. A Primary School serves pre-Kindergarten through Grade Two, an Elementary School sees Grades three and four, an Intermediate School serves grades five and six, a Middle School meets Grades seven through eight and a High School serves freshmen sophomores, juniors, and seniors.

Objectives for this district were to engage the employees for better health and provide a benefit teachers and staff loved and relied on. Attracting and retaining talent over competing districts is key.
Our teachers love Nurse Jenna and Doctor Yemen. The program has saved our district over 1,800 hours in missed work.
